Anybody here using a Korg Kontrol 49?
I'm thinking about picking one of these up, mainly because of the 2 MIDI outputs, the USB and the drum pads. I figure I could use one of the MIDI outputs to go to my Virus (when it arrives!) for latency free playing, then go from the Virus to my computer interface (letting me record control messages from all those knobs!) whilst still being able to record MIDI info direct from the Korg into Cubase. I'm just wondering how I'll be able to get MIDI info from the PC into the Virus (soundsets and things). Could I transmit this through the Korg? Or would it work better if the Korg was only connected to the computer via the USB, and the Virus was connected to the MIDI in/out of my audio interface?
Sorry, this question is worded pretty badly, but I'm struggling to get my head around the possibilities!

yup, that's the way I did it - Korg into the computer via usb and
then midi from computer to Virus C. That way you can still
play the virus in realtime while recording your session
(midi and audio) simultaneously.

Fantastic mate, cheers! What are your opinions on it as a controller? Lots of useful features?

Nah, I'm not on about the MicroKontrol, I mean the newer 49 key one - those keys are full size

i have only played one in my local guitar center, but I did find the keybed to be a little squishy for my liking. But that is all personal preference. I would suggest to play a 61 key triton or karma. i read that it is the same keybed with only 49 keys.

I agree with the other posts in that the keys are a little too "easy" to press. But then again, I use an sl-880 as my main controller. The korg is a great portable controller - perfect for when I am on the road and want to use my virust ti with my laptop.

The action of the keyboard doesn't really concern me cos I'm not really a keys player - I'm a converted guitarist, hehe. I tried one out and it didn't seem to be too different from my K-Station, apart from the obvious advantage of having 2 extra octaves
