Need help getting a sound
This is for a real PAID voiceover.
They want me to do a narrative that sounds like 1948 someone addressing the United Nations. So, crackly and spacious and what have ya. Not quite Hitler at Nurenburg, but you get the idea. What effects am I after? Got Waves Platinum.
Cheers
Matt

Work with the EQ...cut out alot of bottom end, accentuate some of the mid range (you'll have to sweep around a bit) and then roll off some top end. Some slight distortion or tape/tube emulation wouldnt go amiss. A splash of reverb that sounds like you are coming out of a PA...
Shouldnt be too hard a task...

I've no idea, but my initial thoughts would be.... heavy tape- or valve-saturation, narrow frequency bandwidth filtering, guitar amplifier cabinet simulation and/or mic-simulation, bags of low-end with muffled high-freqs, definately distortion, vinyl crackle and 45rpm record 'warping' maybe, and a flattering voice (think Richard Burton - War Of The Worlds), a posh english "BBC" or Chumley Warner accent.

Cheers lads. Yes, that's a good idea to put it through a distorted amp. How to get that random vinyl crackle though?

There are plug-ins out there...you could probably get a freebie from somewhere. I use a TC Works one

Excellent Mr T. Many thanks!
Took the Izotope plug as it's, err, ahh! FREE!
I'll let you know how it sounds.
Cheers, Matt
