Default Tietchens, Roedelius

Not that they have much in common as far as their styles and tones go, but I was just wondering if there was anybody else here who listens to this realm of design/soundscape work. The kind of atmospherics that aren't densely coated with sugar yet don't try to be too dark and brooding for their own good. Just curious. Does anybody here ever make this kind of material?

By the way, this is my first real post here. I've been lurking this forum for quite a while now and thought that I would make a handle and let my presence be felt.

I know not what you speak of, but look forward to hearing some audio samples if possible.

Welcome to the forum!

Hans-Joachim Roedelius. He was in Kluster/Cluster, Harmonia, etc. His solo work is great. I like the early stuff and the more atmospheric later stuff.

Asmus Tietchens. Mostly all solo work. Worked with a lot of key figures though, like conny plank in a one time deal as a band called Liliental. His solo work is great if you like sound design, conceptual stuff, and atmospherics. Really sophisticated.

Sound samples are around, good luck finding them. Youtube has a really nice tietchens track:

enjoy.

funny, I would never think of these two in the same sentence. (If i thought in sentences)

I've never been particularly attracted to Tietchens' work (not that he isn't a skilled sound designer, but I don't find his compositions to be very attractive) and i've found most of Roedelius' solo work entirely too sugary.

I did read a fine interview w/Tietchens where he swore off every touring the US because he smokes too much.
