okay so my sx 3.1.1 was an upgrade from sx 2.0 ..
when i purchased the Virus TI, i also had purchased a new PC . so this windows XP installation is less then 24 hours old . I uninstalled 3.1.1 and installed sx2.0... the computer contains only the following installations:
PC
- AMD Athlon™ X2 5200+ EE w/ 2x512K Cache (2.7 ghz)
- 4 gb ram
Software
- Reason 3.0
- Cubase SX 2.0
- mc808 editor
- microkorg editor
- behringer editor
- adobe acrobat
- virus control vst
Drivers
- m-audio delta 44
- steinberg midi 8x8 driver
- roland mc-808 midi driver
- virus ti driver
- 2 x behringer bcr2000 driver
- m-audio keystation 49e driver
(All other synth hardware is via steinberg midi hub and therefore unrelated to this test)
Cubase has the M-audio delta 44 as the primary ASIO sporting:
- input latency: 6.780ms
- output latency: 6.440ms
- sample rate: 44100 hz
- asio buffer size: 256 samples
- sync: locked internal
I ran 4 tests against another synth (i picked the microkorg) . Both the virus TI and microkorg sample had amp and filter attack envelopes at 0. Here is a list in order of the tests:
- Live: Off, Out L+R
- Live: On, Out L+R
- Live: Off, USB L+R
- Live: On, USB L+R
(All tests were done with a 2 bar lead-in)
Here is the file with the results:

As you can hear, the 3rd test (Live Off, USB L+R) is most accurate. Clearly the others are unuseable.
Any other ideas?
