Default Extracting patches or using old TI Backups

I previously owned a TI Polar and Snow, and now i have a TI Desktop. I only used them as hardware synths.

I have a backup of my Polar memory from last year and tried to update the TI Desktop with it so i could grab all my Polar patches but i get an error that says it is from an older Virus Control version and won't work. My questions:

1. How can i recover all my patches from the TI Polar backup file (.vtibackup), either through extracting the patches or getting them on to a Virus so i can pull them off again?
2. If the backup isn't used for storing patches, what is the purpose of it?

Okay. I apparently can't read. The first warning says the backup is from an older V.Control but the second message says the backup is from a Snow and can't be used on a Desktop. That makes more sense.

So the question is: how can i get my Snow patches from my Snow backup file, into my TI Desktop?
