Virus OS3 and Ableton 7

Anyone running this successfully? It works for awhile but then when I try and load a new bank of patches sometimes it just freezes and crashes my macbook pro. I am considering wiping the machine and reloading Leopard as well as Live 7 and see if that helps? I load a bunch of other vsts without issue
