After the turkish hack I thought I had better check to see if the site was secure and then couldn't resist making a couple of changes. The power went to my head, BWAHAHAHAHA! (This is why I should never be put in charge of anything ever )

Thanks Ledge for pointing out the problem to me.

I have spent a bit of time looking into upgrading to the newer phpbb to prevent more hacking and forgot to look at more immediate file access problems, so thanks to Ledge for alerting!

I know what needs to be done to upgrade to 2.0.20 but it looks like I am going to have to take the site down for 30 mins when I do it.

I will do some dry runs in the meantime so everything goes smoothly.


As far as donations towards the hosting - don't worry about whilst donations are always welcome there really is no need - I had this webspace any way for another site, there is oodles of space, oodles of bandwidth and its on a very fast server, so there should be no probs. I don't mind continuing to cover the costs, I would be anyway.


New title? hang on a minute, Ledge... I see what you meen by "couldn't resist"!

How about sending out an email with the new URL to every SUBSCRIBER? Or is that what you meant by "the board"?
