Default Question concerning USB and Virus Snow

I am using my Virus Snow in combination with my "old" Mac G4 running OSX 10.4.
Till now it works perfectly but i am wondering about something.

I know that my Virus is connected to a dedicated USB 1.1 port...would i benefit from the data speed if i expand the computer with a USB 2.0 PCI card.

So..if i upgrade from USB 1.1 to USB 2.0 would i get a faster data transfer rate between my Snow and my Mac.....???

Wink

Using your Virus with USB 1.1 give you severe limitations. Upgrading to a USB 2.0 card will allow you to...

1. Use your Virus Snow as a soundcard.
2. Use Virus Control and USB Virus Audio routing capabilites
3. Sleep better at night

you can do all that with a 1.1 compatible card.

Lol....

@ Monobeat....i noticed already that with USB 1.1 the possibility of using my Snow as a Soundcard.
I already use this setup in Ableton with Virus Control and can route it in this sequencer.

My question was if i would profit from the speed increase concerning the data transfer rate....because i expect that it will make no difference as it will use USB 2.0 with a 12 Mb speed rate.

I just want to find out if somebody already has this experience...??

Just wanted to share this info with you peeps as i got an answer from Access about my question :

For the TI Snow this would not make any difference at all, as the unit itself only operates at 12 MBit USB data-speed, not USB 2.0 High-Speed so 480 MBit.

Is this the same for the Desktop?

I was under the impression newer versions of the TI Desktop utilised USB 2?

they can utilize USB 2 ports... but they don't go any faster. in my mind they should have just gone firewire and made it completely bad ass...

I was thinking exactly the same Teethofgold.

Still can't understand why they opt. for the slower connection...but i think it has something to do about the fact that they want every user to have this option (even me with my slow *ss connection ).

seeing as how they require that the entire USB port is dedicated to the virus, I think they should have utilized the high speed features of USB 2. then they could have done it all in 24 bit...
