[quote="rhys"] for example they created this one patch in z3ta that was routed so the lfo rate would increase as you go up the keyboard quote]

you can also do that im the virus,
use the mod matrix and set keyfollow as source and lfo rate as des.

meh- 2 sawtooth's detuned oscillating. sample it, make a copy put a low pass on one then a hi-pass on the copy bout 4k overdrive the hell out of it with gain, resample it then put another hi-pass on its with a bit of fx an modulate the cutoff.

Use real analog synths tho and an EMU sampler, sounds loads more badass with loads of attitude than the sound they get, far too generic to my ears.

I had no idea it involved so much processing and re sampling.

I'll give it a try, thanks

There are no rules with Drum and Bass!! You could achieve the same results with two patches, one highpassed, one lowpassed, Then with plenty of distortion, Run it back into the Virus through the imputs, and filter it again. Also, plenty of compression!!! If you do wan't to sample\re-sample remember to add plenty of compression to give it OOOMph!!

compression wont really do that much to this kind of sound in fact it could potentially make it sound thinner.

Your main tools are EQ and Filtering.

use whatever synth, whatever waveform you want, this will only change the type of sound. BUT the main effect you hear in those basslines in dnb is in part the result of eq tweaking & automation
