serious issues with mac. in logic 7.2.1

when i try loading a patch from the browser into a one of the tracks, it loads some random patch. VC doesn't always respond to the track midi either. this is similar to the issue i was experiencing using cubase

a little bit of latency too with it.

Heres an update....

After contacting my supplier and detailing my issues with the TI he wanted me to bring it in to the shop sometime this week and meet with the Access distributor...

When I rang today to organise a time, he told me that the Distributor had told him not to bother wasting time, and to contact the local authorised service centre for repair

So I rang the local service centre (who also happens to service Novation and a few other reputable brands), and was told that if my unit was in one of the early shipments (I received my unit in the very first shipment) - and taking into account I was getting clicks and pops consistently even when using just midi/analog outs - certain components will need to be replaced.

Upon further questioning I was told that 'a couple of capacitors and a few other tidbits would need to be replaced/resoldered'. He also informed me that 6 other TI units were in for repair - all from Melbourne.

He would not disclose how long he has been doing this exact repair job for.

Anyways, if this sorts my tI then well and good. But I must say that if it is merely a 'couple of capacitors' - then having these issues for more then 8 months is more than a little frustrating. And I must say Im quite concerned that other 'capacitors and tidbits' may be faulty in my TI, as I only have a few months warranty left.

Im not angry, just disappointed...

cheers

That, as far as I am concerned, is evidence of a production fault.
There could be no other explanation.

If the capacitors were involved in supply regulation to the DSP board, that would be an explanation for the crashes etc.

The problem now of course, is that it raises more questions than it answers....

That might explain why someone on virusti.com reported that switching to a usp power supply fixed his problems. If components in the TI are sensitive to power conditions it would make sense.

Definitely frustrating although it would be great to finally get to the bottom of all this. There's no question there's a fantastic synthesizer in the TI somewhere.

yep - another member on the other forum just got his keyboard replaced.

The fact that there are already 6 units in for service at the Melbourne service centre alone is a little worrying.

cheers

Hmmmmm... could it be that many of us may be sitting with early Ti units which differ slightly in hardware spec from current units that are being shipped?

I hope its not the case but would like to hear it confirmed either way by Access.

u know makes me wonder, since this is a display model that an employee might have taken home for a period, if it already had been repaired. :O

Well I have already got my TI back from the service centre - this is how they described the work they carried out:

"Carried out mods as per tech bulletin from Access"

So there is definately a known hardware issue with *some* TI's. I wonder just how long it has been *known* for...

I spoke to the technician and he said on of the rails in the power supply needed replacing, along with a couple of other capacitors, and some resoldering needed to be done??

I am in between lives houses atm so I cant even set it up to check stability, but I will be able to report when I set my gear up on the north coast nsw in about a week or so...

I will certainly be pleased if this is all that was initially wrong, otherwise its back to the shop.

cheers
