Default Control the virus via midi

Hey Folks,

I was wondering how do I control the virus using midi messages? Does the remote section in the VC have anything to do with that? If I can, what midi messages control what?

Cheers,

Angus

How does CC/Sysex messages work? Does it have anything to do with the remote function in VC?

I'm not sure that virus supports any sysex to control it, but you can use cc messages to control the virus hardware through midi-in and also it should work feeding them into virus vst plugin from prerecorded midi track or live input external source.

ok, so i have all the cc ref's now. say i want to send my virus a note on message, thats 144 60 23 (channel 1, note, velocity). so what would a cc ref message look like? as it needs to contain the cc ref and a value between 0 127 (generally) in order to control the cc parameter. thoughts?

hm, what are you mixing? CCs are absolutely different type of midi data than note on messages. Note messages are triggers, but cc messages are used to shape/colour what has been triggered. Although in general both can be sent to virus either from midi controller (hardware way, midi-in) or from daw (software way, vst).

im using maxmsp to control my virus, so you need to send it specific messages like the noteon one i listed above, but im having trouble controlling the parameters via messages.

Fl Studios Midi out channel has a preset for access virus . It was probably created pre TI but it can be handy if you need some basic control. For me i'm happy using just recording tweaks through the Tis midi out.
