Default DSP cards

Hello!
I have been watching on some dsp soundcards and was wondering:
have anyone tried any good ones. I think the Mackie UAD-1 card looks very nice.
I'm just wondering if I get one of this card, will I be able to run the dsp effects from it on several audiotracks, and vst instruments, without using the cpu in the computer?
I've heard that you can nearly use unlimited effects without using the cpu on the computer. that sounds too good to be true for me:P

If I could run all the effects from this card only, it would be great!

I'm just wondering if this is right?
and if anyone have some experience with some of these cards, please share them

thanks in advance!
