For a bread and butter ROMpler it would be great.

I just do so much with my PC/sequencer that I don't know if a workstation would be beneficial or if it would totally f$*k up my workflow.

It would be nice to have it as a means to have full capability without a PC/audio interface.

My ultimate synth like this would be this new Motif but with the ability to play Roland's SRX boards. Yamaha's expansion boards have sucked for a long time.

Hmm, looks interesting. Anyway, I don't need a workstation either but I've been looking at the yamaha s90 es keyboard which looks gorgeous. In fact I played the older S90 about 2 years ago and the keyboard feels amazing and I loved the piano sound. The new S90 ES has even better piano. I've also heard some really great pad sounds from the S90 ES. Anyway, I would also like to have the sounds from Korg Triton extreme and roland romplers.

A good thing about the s90 es is that it doesn't have a sequencer or sampler like motif workstations but it's just a high quality keyboard with motif sound engine + the good piano sound and it's cheaper than motif 88 key version.

For some reason workstations have lost all their appeal for me. At one point I even considered getting one, but when I really gave them a test ride I decided not to bother. Now I test drove EastWest Colossus and I think it's a bit better option for bread & butter.

The kind of beastie that looks interesting if you use alot of stock rompler type sounds as well as synths. Would probably suit me well - have two romplers allready (Fusion 8HD and Motif ES rack) and do occasionally like to have a decent sounding piano.

It doesnt exactly make me feel any great urge to flog those two in favour of a new XS8 though (yes - i would need the 8 for the weighted keys to replace the HD8 for piano stuff)... Im sure it sounds better, but TBH - the two I have give me the kind of sound and function cover I need at this time and cost less than an ES8 between them.

For most of us lot - I cant see many of us being rompler fans beyond the usefulness of having stock sounds available that are not tied to a computer - and a module cover that nicely.

Actually I would probably be more in favour of an S90XS (ie an updated S90ES) than a XS8 as dont really use hardware workstation type functions, just the sounds and like a decent weighted hammer-like action sometimes.
