Default Dual Core Processors Compability

Hi all,
i am sitting here looking at pc's because i need something more powerful than i have now, and the cheapest way to get the processor power i want is getting dual processors. Does these work just like a normal 1 processor, or am i excluded from any software ect. I am just worried that cubase and reason might not work if i get dual. BTW: its a pc, not mac because the ones that are in my reach(i have a possibility of a great discount) is HP pc's.

ATM i hear many soundcards have problems with dualcore support,
i belive this is dou to fresh new technology and should be fixed in few months, maybe even become standart in a few years.
