ok you'r right

but not this one ... he didn't mention the screen size, and 14,1" is imo not enough for me.

You're about as hard of a sell as I am, HAH!

I'll tell you this:

I have a Dell Inspiron 1700 laptop (17" display, dual core, 2 GB RAM, XP, blah, blah) and love it as a mobile rig. It's great for presentations, or grouop work at school. But one big setback is that it is a freaking tank to carry around for more than a few blocks.

I just bought my wife a (pink) Dell Inspiron 1420, 14.1" display, Vista, 4 GB RAM, blah, blah. It has a great display and it is no trouble at all to carry it around.

I have considered selling my 1700 and buying a loaded 1420 and then loading XP on it.

Just my .02.

Somebody buy this damn laptop from Iand!!!

I would use it for my live sets only - so i don't worry about the size, otherwise i'd carry an MV8000 from Roland WITH 17" TFT screen with me and they are much more tank than a 17" laptop

the offer is very interesting - but it's not exactly what i'm looking for.

An MV8000! Now my laptop feels light!

Good luck finding a laptop. One thing to beware of, I bought a Dell Inspiron 531s desktop recently (scratch & dent) with great specs at a great price. I immediately FDISK and Formatted it to kill Vista. I relaoded it with XP. Dell not only claimed the XP chipset, NIC, and soundcard drivers were not available for XP, they voided the freaking warranty on that machine. I found the drivers on www.experts-exchange.com but the warranty on my machine is still kaput. I have thought about getting a recent model laptop with Vista on it and doing the same to it, because a laptop with a high-end dual core chip and 4 GB RAM (3.25 really due to 32bit OS limitation) would really kick ass as a portable gigging machine, but I don't know if it will be possible to find all the necessary XP drivers for it as MS and Dell are trying to squeeze XP out of the market...

This Laptop is great, I have 2, the one I'm keeping has a Intel Core 2 Duo T7100 1.8 Ghz. I use it as a junker instead of my MacBook Pro laptop to tode around. And don't mind it getting puked on while dj'ing, unlike the latter.

I upped the price to $450. Ram for this computer is about $150 US for two 2 gig chips. All the drivers for the on board stuff is easily downloaded.

If I don't sell it soon, it's going on eBay

Yes it has 14in screen, but I can include a dock with 2 external monitor connections. And includes an XP install disc or I can send it w/ Vista business installed.

Gaddamn it! I need the money!
