We're also using 5.5.1.but couldn't get it (5.5.1) to run on NTFS i had to Delete the partitions. then re-Partition and format the hard drive with an old "Windows 98 boot CD" to get it into the Fat32 state, then installed XP keeping it FAT32 and Logic works well.also if you don't know (But i'm sure you do)there are loads of things you have to switch off on XP for an audio computer (XP Audio Tuning)to get it to run stable. Here is a link on our website with the list of things to switch off http://www.thegirlnextdoor.de/XPtuning.htm

So, Girl Next Door... Are you running, and using, the Virus Control software within Logic 5.5.1? Do you have, as they say, "Total Integration"?

Logic 5.5.1 was the last release Emagic made for the PC platform, before selling their company to Apple. Some of us liked and still do like that program, but were and still are a bit pissed off at the prospect of either; a) buying an Apple computer to continue to upgrade Logic, or b) buying into a different sequencer package like Cubase.

So personally, I like to stick with Logic 5.5.1. Also, it does what I need it to do just fine.

you are both damn right. logic is teh shit. i gladly spent a little more time up front learning the more difficult/squacky "ins and outs" of logic to reap the rewards of how customizable and intuitive it really is.

just got my TI keyb last night. running winxp sp2. athlon 3600+/msi neo4 2xpci-X. logic splatnium 551

installed virus software no problems. flashed up to 1.06 no problem. loaded virus control in logic, little shakey, rebooted. loaded VC on audioinst in logic again. NO PROBLEM. at first midi was a little loose, then it seemed to tighten up. now im rippin the sikkest basslines and leads.

YO DONT BUY THE VIRUS TI. (that way only I WILL HAVE THE SIKKEST SOUNDS and MORE INTEGRATION THAN YOU)

no really buy this thing its unreal. this thing can squeal, tinkle, shimmer, rip, thump and ROAR. can sound like the pure sunshine or the perfect
storm.

ONLY THING IS. automation works for the most part, however i turn a channel on touch/write, hit play, twist one of the data knobs (under the LCD) it WONT WRITE THE automation. however i use my mouse (software synth style) in VC and it automates.. WTF... Ben Help! this must be fixed!!! ;D

in conclusion. access rules, virus ti rules, logic PC rules. ODOYLE RULES

LOGIC 5.5.1 for all you folks out there is simply the greatest sounding and most intiuitive host sequencer in history.

better than logic 7 in my opinion, and i have no idea why there is ever so slight a slight difference in the sound between the 2.
i might be losing my marbles here.

that is why i wont change, and will buy DSP cards to allow me to stay on it for the next 5 years at least.

yes i have tried both.

I just got my TI yesterday (woo hoo finally) and Tried it with both Cubase SX 2.2 (i know 3.1 is recommended, but i cant afford that) and logic 5.51 on PC and got the best results from Logic by miles. (Virus V1.06R2)

had similar installation experience ot mr orange...the installer really needs some work i even had to do some registry editing to get it to run at all (couldnt find folder %VSTPLUGINS% error..)

I actually got about 14 channels of TI going using the Virus Control plugin on a quick test ...things went a bit sloppy here and there, got the odd drop out and other 'features' often talked about here but once going it was great....really freaking awesome !!! decreasing the latency on my card helped tighten it up (which i had increased to get a bit more cpu for my tracks)

Two problems though:
1. The Ti is playing either before or after the rest of my VSTs/audio tracks in logic...If i make a track just with the TI its great, but if i try to run it with anything else it sounds like a cats bum...any way to fix this?...

2. on mixdown it played back like doo doo im hoping someone can help me with that...as without mixdown its useless.

i also got it running in both logic 5.51 and cubase SX2.2 without using virus control, which worked well in both cases...oh, i did get one of those really nasty Blue Screen of Deaths (win32k.sys) in logic..but after a reboot she was fine.

in all though...even without the TI aspect...this thing sounds so unbeleivably good that its worth the money just for the hardware So powerful and clean (or dirty as hell if you want it to be)....its really got guts!. Im happy to wait a bit longer (or do a few tweaks) to get it solid.

have a nice day
-Dan
