Default Virus TI keyboard, no sound. Options to mend?

hi Folks
Got a broken Virus TI here, belongs to a friend, it powers up and the controls work etc, but no sound, I also tried the digital ouput, still nothing.

Whats the worst case scenario here, main board gone and beyond repair, if so are they available and what cost?

Is it worth sending the machine (or boards by themselves) to anyone other than Access ? Any known repairers for these in UK?

Cheers
Will

So there's no output from headphones or analog outs? You didn't have it connected to a computer via USB at the time?

If it boots up and displays the version number, the main DSP boards might be ok, just not the smaller output board. Afraid I don't know anything about replacements, but have the same model and have done a battery replacement and had it all apart.

So the knobs work, but the keyboard doesn't? Does it generate sound if controlled by external MIDI? Ensure all the MIDI settings are set to receive/send data correctly via the Ctrl menus.

Is Local (Keyboard) control turned Off in the Ctrl settings? This would disengage the keyboard.

If the unit generates sound from external MIDI but the keyboard still doesn't work you could open the TI up and double check that the ribbon cable is properly seated and connected to the keyboard. If the TI is like my Indigo, you don't have to disassemble the whole unit, you can gain easy access to the keyboard itself just by unscrewing just two specific parallel lines of screws under the base, and the keyboard slips out and will show the ribbon cable/connector. http://infekted.org/virus/showthread.php?t=31443

Thanks for replies, never had it connected to a computer. Managed to get a video of it, sometimes works briefly then makes a digital glitch sound and usually goes silent, I am sure it was putting DC out of the audio output or non-audible frequency at one point, (causing VU meter on mixer to go up) like it had crashed. Sometimes the buttons still work, sometimes they all freeze up.
