Default m-audio bx5 monitors... yes or no??

ok, the eternal problem, the etrnal question about monitors.... who knows anything about these ones? i found they are around 425 euro (new) in france and i know i won't find cheaper.. unless i go for Yamaha MSP5 or MSP3.. but i didn't hear very good things about them.
i've read many reviews but, to say the truth, i don't believe them, i don't find they are objective, there is always that confusing description: "excellent and unique sound, flat response....bla bla bla" and when i read user comment here and there, it is completly different.
any idea?

I've read good reviews on those monitors and some not-so-good reviews. Hard to say.

I have no other idea than give them a listen.

i cannot test any monitors that is my big problem. In my country i can only try JBL stuff (and i am not sure they import nearfield monitors), yamaha MSP somthing, i forgot exactly which model, and Soundcraft Absolute Zero or Zero2. I can rely only on user comments in forums and reviews!!
(On day I found 2nd hand Alesis M1 passive with Alesis RA150 amp, i was so excited that i bought them without testing them very well, once home i discovered the right tweeter was broken... so i returned them to the guy.... forutunatly he didn't refuse.)
anyway, i have to buy, test and decide on whether to keep or sell...

reviews on monitors are a real pain to sort through! always there seems to be some good and some bad! user reviews are usually more pointless, because they arent objective at all! its more like my stuff is better than your stuff (competition or something),

before buying my monitors i listened to a few different types first...unfortunately its the only way to know what you are getting and because you arent in a position to do that it will be a head-fuck to say the least!

good luck with the hunt hatmebr...

sorry there isnt really any advice in this post by the way.

Its really critical to know what you'll be using these monitors for. I actually used a pair of Yamaha MSP5's in my bedroom for a year (I now use HR624's in my m8's studio).

The MSP5's have a very clear/crisp presentation for the money. BUT they lack lowend. I use them for fuking around on my synth.....you could just about work with them...but it would be an effort to get it right.......personally I wouldnt want to.

IMHO u are stuck in the void. With the kinda money you want to spend....you'll have to make a compromise between clarity and lack of bass end or vice versa. When you move upto the monitors like 624's you get good bass presentation and mid/high clarity.....but thats what you pay for!

As an alternative to the bass light Yamaha MSP5's.....you could consider the Alesis Spirit MKII's. They pack more bass weight, whilst retanining relatively decent mid/high clarity.

i heard alot of bad things about the soundcraft monitors
a friend of mine has the 8's and they sounded very good
crisp and clear
nice buttom end
but his room is kind of big so it fits
if your room is small and not so good on the acustics you should go with 5 inc near field,
the m audio will be a wise choice i think.

I hope the reason is that the sound worse than the behringer's, since I get my Alesis Actives in 1,5 week

I'll let you guys know what I think...my first monitors actually, so I guess I can't be that disappointed:P

i am also very attracted by your avatar nrgy!!

anyway.... i found another good deal, 460euro for the Alesis M1 mk2 in france, 380euro without the extra taxes... which is great!
What is not so great is that i have to make a decision on whether to order them or not before saturday becaue it is a special promotion that won't last months... it may ends this week end... so two days ultimatum to know if i will buy them.... my first monitors too
