Default Virus Control Load times

Hey Guys how long does it take for your Virus Control to load up. I'm getting about 30 seconds to a minute before I even get the start up screen and I don't think that is normal.

Any ideas on this (could it be a usb issue?)

Not normal, it shouldn't load slower than any other plugin. 30 seconds plus is waaaay too long. Could be a driver issue, maybe something is messing with virus control. It could be your antivirus. (I realize it sounds like a pun, but it isn't.)

I realize it sounds funny, but I wasn't kidding. My antivirus created major problems with my DAW and several plugins (at that time I didn't have a Virus though.) I had been banging my head against a wall for weeks and went as far as reformatting the hard drive and reinstalling everything, before totally by chance I read on a forum that other people were having similar problems and the only thing they all had in common was that they were using BitDefender. I immediately removed it and switched to a different product (Prevx, rather pricey but by far the least intrusive, highly recommended to everyone who uses a DAW) and all of my problems were instantly gone.

Although I have a computer of +10 years old, I have found that one thing that has a big influence on the vc startup time is the amount of patch banks in the Access directory. I reduced the amount of banks to less than 5 (moved all the others to a separate dir)and it brought load time of vc back from over two minutes to almost under 5 seconds. You might try that if the number of patch banks on your computer is huge.

thank you so much merlin!

after reinstalling the virus several times, disabling antivirus programs, and many other troubleshooting steps the issue was the simple problem that I had too many patch banks installed!

ah success after nearly a year of dealing with my virus taking forever to load.
