if the latency is audible, it's certainly not the virus. try the following: connect your virus directly to the keyboard and play with headphones. if the latency is gone it's the audio drivers of your mac.

Default MAC ?? ARRRGGGH!!

Change your Buffer Settings on Your Audio Card.
Usually solves this 90% of the Time.

You are letting Logic get up to speed, right? It takes two, three, maybe four bars to sync.
I have this problem, too, with my Lynx card. In OS X, Core Audio and Lynx introduce serious latency. My Logic audio buffer setting has to stay at 1024 samples if I wanna use Reaktor, and my on-board-the-card latency is 663 samples when recording at 48kHz.

Anyway, you can set your midi delay on each midi instrument in 'arrange' window. I usually have it set at +30 to sync best in my situation.

FWIW, I'm using a MOTU USB MicroLite with my Virus and Motif ES.

Default To change buffer settings in Logic

I don't think you can directly change the buffer settings on the actual audio card interface software. You can do it from your DAW, though.
The way you do it in Logic is this:

Go to prefs -> Audio Hardware & Drivers
There's a drop-down menu that allows you to change buffer sizes. I think maybe Logic ships with a 256 sample setting.
I know my Lynx L2 must have 1024 for now.
I know a person who has the same issue with his Lynx AES16 card.
Anyway, see if lowering the sample buffer size will help. You'll know when you get it too low as you'll get crackling and fizzing in your audio. The lower the buffer setting, the more processor resources you'll require.

When I had my M-Audio Delta 2496 card, there was hardly any latency, but the A/D and D/A conversion was less than optimal.

Soft synths are tough to play real-time with buffer settings this high.

While this is definitely true ONLY after the software has been launched, I'd recommend you change the Buffer settings BEFORE Launching Logic. Although I've changed settings within my sequencer a thousand times, I've also seen my share of Crashes/Freeze ups when asking Logic/Cubase to change buffer settings.

Heed thy warning!
