Default how to make kicks?

I'd like to make my own kicks, but I don't manage to. I mean real phat kicks as Scot Project's or Kai Tracid's. Anybody knows? Should I use some plugins?

1. OscBalance to +63.
2. Select sine wave for the oscillator and add some pitch to env from oscillator edit menu.
3. Set keyfollow of Osc2 to 0 and adjust the osc pitch to very low.
4. Tweak filter envelope.
5. Fiddle with filtering, effects and few other parameters to suit your taste.
6. Record
7. Compress and EQ

Thats quite an interesting way of doing it. I use a Pro-One or Mono-Poly for all my kick sounds. I dont use the ocilators I just use resonance with very low cutoff and good envelope settings. I sometimes use keyboard tracking knob in order to create a more varied tone across the keyboard.

This demo was done on a Mono-Poly. The pitch is a little too high, it would have sounded better at a lower octave.....but anyway...u get the picture.

Forget to create "DJ Scot Kicks" with a Synthesizer. LOL

No, you have to get some very good Sampling CDs... (Techno Trance Essentials by Doug Laurent for example, its quite good)

Or rip them directly from DJ Scot & Co

No, they did it via "sample designing" and sample-layering + lots of external FX gear (mainly heavy compressors and EQs)
