Default scratchy percussion sounds

Hi,

I'm trying to program some scratchy percussion sounds on the Virus TI. I've had somewhat better luck doing this on the V-Synth, using some of the aggressive waveforms there (e.g., FEEDBACK-OSC), but I'm not doing too well with it on the Virus. I end up with sounds that have too much pitch -- too much fundamental. Can anyone give me some tips?

thanks,

-illiac

Start with just basic Noise and verious filter settings,
start adding env. and Lfo modulation to noise color, filter parameters

then add an oscilator and try to expiriment with the FM settings and pitch modulation.

I find that with the 1-pole and some distortion, I can get some harsho sounds.

I'm afraid I don't know what "1-pole" is. Is it a mode of the filters? I don't understand them in detail, but the way they are named made me think they are 2-, 4- and 6- pole filters, depending on how they are configured.

Thanks,

Yes. The Moog one.

The "1-pole" version would have a 6dB/oct filter cut-off curve.

Oh! I didn't even see those filter modes before: Analog 1 Pole, Analog 2 Pole, etc. Probably because they don't correspond to LEDs on the panel. Thanks! I will try this too.
