karl, I am well versed with the NakedMusic style and have had a virus kc for almost 2 years. The virus is arguably the best VA on the market for those types of music. In fact, many of the synth parts on the classic naked recordings are the virus a (jay denes, the father of NakedMusic, also uses a kurzweil, logic, and DX7-style FM synthesizers, among other things).
The virus can make the crisp leads, pristine pads, and the minimoog filter emulation is excellent to nail that Jay Denes or Gabriel Rene bass sound (remember, though, that they often use a live bassist too)
The newer sonic additions to the TI, such as the wavetable stuff and the supersaw oscillators, are less useful for that type of house music, although they certainly are great tools that show up all over the board in techno, pop, trance, etc.
It's also easy to look past the fact that the Virus excels fo r creating analog drum sounds and as an effects processor. I'm not a big fan of the vocoder, though; personally, I'm much more impressed with Logic's EVOC20. Correct me if I'm wrong, forum, but my ears tell me that Miguel Migs was using EVOC 20 on Lisa Shaw's voice to acheive that classic NM parallel-processed vocoder vocal thing.
This all being said, it would be very difficult to make NakedMusic style or really any classic house music without a DX7-style FM synthesizer such as Native Instruments FM7. The Virus does not have that covered yet, although it seems that they have everything else covered so it's probably only a matter of time.
Hope this helps
