Default Is this interface unusable with the virus?

Ok. So I got an interface yesterday so that I can run my virus into a compressor and back into my computer to record with the compressor.

Problem is. With the interface I can no longer pan anything...everything just stays in the middle.

I assumed that I could just plug the L and R outs of the virus into the two inputs of this interface and it would be ok.... am I wrong about that? Do I need to pick up an interface with dedicated L and R inputs?

Thanks!

With it being USB, do you have mixing control over the unit via software?

The fact it has stereo L/R outputs suggests the panning or routing for the input channels may be done via software.
