I am actually quite dissapointed looking at the NL2X specifications, I was like "where are the specs!?"
You have a Virus: there's your specs. The NL2x will give you the sound.

I have a virus b. I like the complexity but I wish a had a NL2x for the nice character and cool simple sounds. I think you should get the Nord because the difference between the Virus and NL2 is bigger than the difference between the Virus and Ion, imo. Ion is also more or less a "do-it-all" synth. Also having a synth without a display and menues is nice.

I have had a NL2 for years now - shit maybe 7 or 8 years! When did they even come out, it could be longer.

Anyway, nothing has broken on it, the knobs still feel stronger than any of my other gear. It's travelled with me here to Japan (rough trip too). It's rock solid as far as construction, but..... The key-action isn't the best for sure - it doesn't have aftertouch and the feel just isn't as good as some other keyboards around. Having said that though, it's damn tough and I hammer the fucker.

I love my NL2 - never will sell it.

HC,
How do you like the HPD? I was looking into one those those for percussion stuff, like congas and such.

It's really bad keyboard for playing (No, playing isn't pressing an A minor for cool trance arpeggiation). I've noticed that the keyboard is constrcted exactly like on Korg X5/X5D - It's all plastic. I'm sure it will last, but the feel is awful and it keeps those horrible screecking and snarling sounds that make you afraid of playing it. ?hih.

Try to play something and compare for example Virus keyboard with that Nordlead keyboard. They're like from different planets.

It's a cool little machine actually. Quite versitile with editing - decay, pitch (without changing the length of hits) and onboard compression/FX. The expressiveness with playing is really good too.

Yup, this is for sure. It's tough, but it's not the best action.

One other thing with the Nords - the pitch and mod wheels are bloody great!

The NL2X is an instrument, not a car or computer. Judge it based on sound, not whats written as a spec.
