Default Glitch sounds

Have anyone here got any experience with creating glitch/glitch sounds?

If yes, how about sharing a little tip, a "recipe" if you will? I've got one, i'm not sure if it's very good, but i thought you should hear anyway:

1. Sample something short, in my case i sampled myself swallowing a mouthful of pepsi

2. Pitch it, way high, like 2-3 octaves, and make sure NOT to allow tempo correction.

3. EQ all lower frequencies out if they aren't gone already.

4. Give it some bitcrusher.

And there you go, a hi-hat-like "click" sound...

Now it's your turn!

I'm greedy for knowlegde you see

Yeh - job #1 - capture a satans saw (which seem to be becomming an endagered species) - job #2 - stick it in an MD or V-Synth and away you go

I've found you can get some of the best glitchy sounds by taking excellent core material... drums, loops, samples, etc... and running them through a couple plug-in's....

PSP's Nitro is GOD when it comes to sonic manipulation for me, you can always get good glitchy combo's through other means such as combining CamelPhat3 with CamelSpace.

Adding elements of randomization is always great... for that just try throwing stuff into Reaktor... or better yet... Stylus RMX, the chaos generation features on these make it ridiculously easy to come up with whack patterns from seemingly normal sample material.

Trying to use glitched up samples, like those from Synthetic Drums 1&2 sometimes works really well (when step sequencing is a good option)... but complexity is a key part of making glitchy beats work properly... thats why I feel randomizers and a couple plugins work faster and more efficiently.

Hope that helps you all out!

I still vote for the death screams of digital audio gear/synths for some of the best raw material for ear shredding glitches

What about opening some random system file (e.g. notepad.exe or the MacOS X Mach kernel) in an audio editor and using this as an input to feed your creativity?

stay tuned

Not a bad idea - while it should sound basically the same, it doesnt have the kudos of a carefully stalked and captured TI crash glitch
