Default R?yksopp like vocals

I recently discovered the great band, R?yksopp, and got their latest album(The Understanding). I was very impressed with the voices on tracks such as: Only this moment, Beautiful day without you and Circuit breaker. Does anyone know how to do those smooth breathy vocals? I'd be forever grateful!

PS. if previews is needed, i'll upload some samples from the songs but i cannot upload all of it due to frightening copyright laws

Both albums are great. I would have to agree that I prefer their first album Melody A.M. overall - although the second album The Understanding is better produced.

For that elevated spaced vocal I know an R & B producer who swears by the Roland Dimension D - although just try and find one second hand these days. Universal Audio have released a plug-in version for their UAD-1 and I'm told it is very good.

... try listening to the last Ulrich Schnauss album "a strangely isolated place" if electronica is your thing.

Dimension D looks really cool, but $150? Jeez, for that little thing? I'll try my way with some stereo imaging+chorus

Well, to start, having a good quality signal path would help:

Great singer---great room---great mic---great pre---etc etc...

Sounds like they are using a vocoder of some sorts, or a pitch corrector for FX. A bit of reverb, slight compression and there you have it.
