Default [img] Indigo 2 render.. great wallpaper :)

Since not everyone likes to read the introduction section (my post, to be more specific) of this forum, I'd like to share this render with you people

click here for a larger version (1280x960)

(I know the black keys look a bit too shiny now.. I'll redo the shine tonight and change the picture on the server.. try to refresh this page (and its graphics) tommorow (thursday))

Any compliments or comments are welcome!

Enjoy

That's nice. What program you used?

I think that it has a slight painted feel. It looks like the black keys are made of coal.

Try to make an brushed aluminum texture on that. For example in photoshop just add gaussia uniform noise and then add wind and voil?. If you would blend that texture with low opacity on that case it would loo a bit better.

Yeah I know.. I added the shinyness in a seperate render.. multipassed it with photoshop.. first one with radiosity on, second one with specularity only. I'll fix that tonight.. the shinyness on the blacks is a bit to matte now.. it should be a lot sharper.

Brushed Alu for the black keys? Won't that look a bit odd?

I was going to change the specularity on the keys so they look like hard carbonated plastic keys, the same look normal keyboard keys always look

You'll have the newer version tomorrow (or in about 10 hours, whatever comes first )

Ah.. good idea.. I'll do that tonight.. 1 final question though:

Could you describe the materials on the part of the indigo 2?

Especially these parts:

- Side 'beams' (those two things which support the chassis)
- Case (the chassis in which the electronics are housed
- Bottom plate?
- Decals? (whats the material thats used for the user interface (the black stuff with the text on it, under the knobs))

Thanks for the help

The sides are solid aluminum. They have a very thin grain texture that runs horizontal.

The bottom is hard to explain. There are about ten screws in no particular pattern. You got the usual four black rubber pads. Smooth material.

The case over the top is one piece. It's like a bent piece, at the top corners. You need to make them more rounded. Rough almost sandblasted look.

The decails are blue. I see the grey lines on the left and top of them. The top is thinner. They seem to be painted on.

This has been my background for a number of months now:

I grabbed a nice high resolution shot from the promotional material on the Access website (roughly 5mb jpg).

I printed that same picture and laminated it. I had it in my class room for months. If I was feeling low, I'd just turn and look at that picture. I also had the machinedrum printed.
