Default Sampling your favorite CD's, Vinyl, & MP3's

Hello all, I'd like to know how you guys go about sampling parts of your favorite CD's, records (for the old guys), and MP3's.

Thanks

I've just recently started doing this, after years of stupidly trying to be more
original than everyone else on this planet. It took me some time to realize that
most of the electronic music for the last 15 years is recycled hundreds of times.
I wouldn't synthesize that kick anymore, i'd sample 3 kicks from 3 different records
and layer two of them together to create one massive kick, and delete the third one.

Up to now I've been working with purchased and free loops of this and that... but now I'm working on an Industrial song that I want to insert the whistle from Public Enemy's "Rebel without a Pause" and the vocals of Exploited's "Dogs of War".

I have Exploited on Vinyl and PE on CD.

For electronic stuff in I use Recycle...

import them in to wavelab and cut them up

as for records simply play them into your soundcard and then import that audio into wavelab.

if like me you arse things like imports up then drag the file into the project window or drag it into the program icon then let the program decide what or how to import

I don't have WaveLab yet... I was going to get the studio version 6. I guess that's another reason to save for it.

Use me record player or cassette deck into my soundcard (RME Fireface 400) and recorded onto Wavelab.then use denoise,Decrackle and Declick it if it needs it,most of the time needs at least one and maybe alittle mastering. Then loop the wanted part (While slapping my leg if there is no real beat to a 4 drum,8 Drum or 16 drum loop) still in Wavelab untill the loop is perfect then copy the new loop and open a new Wavelab project (With wavelab still open of course) and paste it into the new project and then save (WAV.) the new loop to Harddrive and then import into my sequencer (Live6) and match it to the Beat of ELECTRO HOUSE...
And no i'm not gonna tell you what loops i'm working on at the moment

this thread is a little dated but still good to see how others go about it. Myself, I record everything into wavelab and use that to make my 2, 4, 8, 16 bar and full song loops. From there, I cut it all up in Recycle and then import into Stylus RMX. At times, I will also warp those bars/songs in Live and play elements in conjunction with complimentary elements from RMX - really adds creative possibilities.
