Default [unsolved] Virus TI stops working with Cubase after a while

I've got a new Virus TI Desktop, Firmware 1.2.4 and it works flawlessly when I play via midi cable and plug my headphone in. I'd rather like to connect it via USB and play it using the VC plugin though:

Connecting the Virus via USB, setting it up in Cubase and playing it only works for some minutes. Then it stops making any sound with both versions (SX3 and Cubase 4). Other plugins still keep on working. To solve the problem I can reload the project. Then it works for another few minutes. Only seldomly I have to restart Cubase - that's when it also stops receiving MIDI signals from my MIDI keyboard.

There seems to be no coherency between the things I play or program and the moment the sound stops. Sometimes I play, take a short break of a minute, return and can't hear any sound...

What could be the reason for this?

My PC is an Athlon XP 1800, 512 MB Ram. Cubase SX 3 and Cubase 4 are installed in their latest versions each and running under Windows XP SP2, up to date. The Virus is plugged to one of 4 USB ports, not to a hub. The other ports are used by a Cubase Dongle, a wireless mouse and the Korg Legacy Collection controller (which was turned of during the testing). Soundcard is Terratec Phase 28.

Thx anyone!

Are terratec drivers written by usbaudio.de? The same company writes almost the same drivers for the TI and could cause many instabilities. I regret buying a phase 26 for my laptop anyway.

I ended up purchasing a new 5-port PCI USB card and installing that in my PC. I don't have any further issues with VC now and it works flawlessly every time it loads.
