Default Want to by the Virus B, but have some questions...

Hello everyone!

I'm interested in purchasing the virus of e-bay. However, I've got a couple of questions (sorry if they are a bit stupid )

1) Can the Virus be used Fruity Loops 3.4?

2) If I buy the virus from the U.S., can there be any problems related with different voltage power? Is it as simple as changing to a different adapter, or is it more complicated (this question has to win the most stupid question award)?

As you can see, I have no idea when it comes to hardware synths, so thanks for your patience. If there is anything else I should know, please respond!

Thanks.

First of all, let me say this: BUY IT!! The Virus B is a GREAT buy - granted the Virus C has a couple of better feautures, but basically it is the same synth and a used Virus B is amazingly cheap - you won't get a better sounding synth for that kind of money anywhere else - and it sure beats the hell out of Fruity Loops sounds.

1) I don't work in Fruity Loops, but I'd be extremely surprised if it was not able to work in conjunction with MIDI-synths, so I assume the answer is YES!

2) I bought one of my first synths in the US and for that I needed a power transformer - getting hold of such a device should be no problem though and it's cheap, so I don't think you have any worries.

Oh, and let me say that I have had quite a bit of equipment over the years, but my productions got remarkably better after I got my Virus C some 7 months ago!

Its surprising, I was asking these exact same questions nearly six months ago

1) Yes you can!

2) The virus takes 500mA 12V DC powersupply, non-inverting. So any power adapter that spits this out (or with more amperage) will power it just fine. Which is what I'm using since I'm in Australia

No valid for keyboard versions. Keyboard versions doesn't need any transformers.

Default Thanks everyone!

Thanks for the replies everyone!

saba: I'm in Australia (Perth), so that is good news.

However, I've got one more question to you, since you operate in FL 3.4. Can you use multiple virus presets in one track at the same time, or do you have to record each virus sound seperately, and then use them as samples in the track?
I've never used a hardware synth before, so I apologise if these questions are a bit silly...

Yes, you can. You can sequence (or play) up to sixteen different sounds at once.

Seeing as you are in Australia, where are you getting your virus from? And for how much?

I bought mine from the USA (novamusik) since the prices here are an absolute ripoff.

I'll be looking out for a bargain on ebay. Hopefully something under $650 US...

Thanks for all the answers people!
