OK then, a little criptic there Marc. It took me the whole of my lunch break, but I finally found it!
The name threw me at first. "Appatchi", just like the helicopter. But when you look carefully at the name " Ap- patch-i - it's a little clever, but somewhat corny. Finally someone has made a patchable VA!
Anyway it looks as if it will be out September. There weren't many specs online - care to share a few of the specs with us Marc? Those keys look small, are they similar to the micro-korg or something?
Thanks for the clues Marc - I never would have found this otherwise.
Still, I hope you guys are making some new filters for the C series as well as this "Appatchi" thing.

that's very cool - great. i'm sitting here laughing. thanks, cool artwork

Just like the helicopter with an exception that it's waiting for Korg's lawsuit? That's cool!

What ever do you mean Juho? Access didn't get sued over their "moog" filter, so what's a patch design between rival companies.

Hey, that's a bit strange Marc. If you laugh at Access's new design you may be out of a job before it's release! 8O

Just to remind you guys of things that "big market" really asks for. They don't want a more advanced virtual analog. They want something different and that's qhy Amatson Books Studio Technologies exists.

HC i think u might be right. I think we may see some kinda awesome Virus modular come out. If u think about it........Access can retain the 'Virus' brand (a bloody strong brand name in the market place) and still keep existing Virus owners happy.....because it will be a modular. A 'Virus D' may piss alot of people off.......but a 'Virus Modular' would be very exciting.
Oh god...I hope Im right. If there is indeed a 'Virus D' I repent I repent!!!

Judging by the "Appatchi" pic it is a Modular
Has anyone heard of any other interesting things that have been released this year?
I watched the new video demos of Ableton Live 4 last week - that looks really interesting! Does anyone know anything in detail about that. I want to know about the sound quality VS Cubase's 32 bit float system. If it's the same quality, I may just have to change my sequencer.

I don?t think it would be wise to update the Virus line again with more of the same... I may not be the shrewdest businessman but it wouldn?t be hard to see a lack of sales from such a product. It's only been 2 years, no one will want to update their C's, heck some people just bought one 3 months ago. A wise choice would be to release something new to grab the spending money of synth lovers, and then a successor to the C in another 2 years. I also don?t think the marketing will work as well this time if a successor is the case, there will be an obvious backlash from owners.

it will be a joke if they will release a new "upgraded" virus c model.

A modular Virus would seem to be an obvious way forward for the company. Something along the lines of a Clavia G2. There appears to be a market for VA modulars......and I'd have to admit.....they appeal to me more than true analog ones.....purley for the practicality.
A keyboard Virus Modular that interfaces with a PC....thats the way forward in my opinion. Keep making Virus C's for another couple of years and release another filter type (maybe).
Interestingly, a guy on another chat forum told me that they used this same helicopter image shortly beofre the Virus C was launched. He maybe wrong.......
