Default (solved) Virus Classic backlight issue

I have been searching around for information, and have contacted tech-support via e-mail, but haven't gotten the answer I am looking for. So, here it goes...

I have a Virus Classic that is no longer in warranty. Recently, the backlight for the display has become erratic. It flickers on and off intermittently, although it sometimes fades out slowly. I would like to know if anyone else has had a similar problem, and what they did to fix it.

Since the unit is out of warranty, I would like to service it myself. However, before I disassemble the unit, I would to know if there is a specific component I should be looking for (like a specific capacitor), or perhaps a certain solder joint.

If anyone has had this problem, and has fixed it themselves, please let me know. Otherwise, I will just have to go with the trial and error method.

Thanks,
Blasten

Check the solderjoints of the backlight LED. It should be rather easy to locate from the LCD PCB.

Solder joints were fine. However, I cleaned the connector for the PCB, and then made sure it was connected tightly, and everything seems to be working fine for now.
