Default Convertor switching on the TI series?

The spec's say 192k 24 bit, thats wonderful an all, but, analog synths never had 24bit 192k outputs.

So did Access make it possible to set the sample rate to say 22, 44 or 48 k an the bit rate to either 12 or 16 bit either globally or any individual output?

Best

erm, analog synths don't have 12 or 16 bits or a lower sample rate either, mainly because they are analog and not digital.

I know that, the point was that analog machines did not have high quality so called studio grade digital convertors rated at 192k, an thus it would be more realistic to have lower grade sample rates to get closer to the outputs on analog synths.

If the machine's convertors could be scaled down to 22k/12 or 16 bit i think we'd have more success in getting basses with a bit of grit like old analogs instead of this obvious glossy digital sound the virus outputs.

You can't really compare true analogue synth output to DA conversion, as true analogues aren't really converting from digital at all. Lowering the quality won't get you closer to an analogue synth I'm affraid - pitty.

I agree that the Virus can't do chunky bass the same as many pure analogue machines (it can get close with a heap of non-detuned, non-panspread unison- still not the same though). There are other VAs that get a closer feel with out using things like unison and FX however.

The thing I think VA excells at, is sounds with alot of movement without having modular patch cables lying everywhere.

There are many old analogue synths waiting to be picked up off ebay or whatever. Most are a fraction of the price of a TI, hense the reason I've picked up a few just for bass. VA has it's place in my studio though.

Im afraid Hollowcell is right here....

The reason the bit rate and sampling rate are increasing is so we can try and get the same type of sound as we had with analogue
