Default Does it makes sense to use a TI as a simple MIDI machine?

Hello,

I was wondering if using a Virus TI as a simple MIDI device can make any sense or it is specifically used by everyone as an USB device... just wondering.

Since I am more used to MIDI and not to USB I wanted to know how much should I lose from a TI using it simply as a MIDI synth.

Cheers! =)

Greetings, FSX!

If you stick to using MIDI, and only MIDI with the Virus TI, you'll not be using the TI, only the Virus! (^_^)

No, seriously, the TI functionality is delivered from the USB connection. So, not only are you sending the MIDI over USB, but you're also sending your Audio direct into, and out of, the DAW! Or, maybe you've got another synth routing its audio into the DAW via the Virus... ETC!

You lose the ability to edit your patches from the computer screen and create custom arpeggiators

i only use viruscontrol as a patch librarian, other than that i use it as a regular midi machine

it works great for me

No one cares, no one sympathizes.
So you just stay home and play synthesizers.

It's perfectly fine. I use MIDI only (no VC or USB). Part of this was due to the fact that early OS versions had much better stability when using MIDI, particularly external clock timing and ARPS.

I will occasionaly plug in the USB port for Patch management but can't see how anyone would want to program sounds from the computer with a mouse...that's what the knobs are for!
