Default Cubase 4

Hello,

Is anyone using Cubase 4 yet?

I'm an SX3 user and was wondering if it is worth the upgrade.

Do the new effects have side chaining, at long last?

Thanks,

Dave.

I didnt even know if it was shipping yet...

TBH I've kinda given up on Cubase. Im using SX3, and when I come to upgrade my system, I think I'll move onto a PT or Logic rig

from Cubase.net:

6. Is Side Chaining finally available?

Cubase 4 does not allow native Side Chaining yet, though it is already supported by all included VST3 (Side Chains are part of the VST3 SDK). Side Chaining and free Group Channel routing will be introduced within the Cubase 4 generation cycle.

Yeh - thats f*****g unbeleivable...

I would have expected they would completely free form routing by now - like Reason for eg, or at least the concept of patch bays etc...

Grrrrrr!!!!

Thanks for the replies, I think I'm going to wait before upgrading this time.

In fact I think I may not buy anything for a while. I keep chasing the upgrades from NI, Propellerheads, Steinberg etc. and never use anything to 100% of it's capacity.

I might force myself to delve deeper into Reaktor!!

Dave.

Yeah, Reaktor is the bizz.

I bought it a couple of months ago after watching some Hybrid videos on how to make tracks and they do all their funky shit in Reaktor - very impressive, especially FastFX and GrainSynth v1.0

I was actually quite amazed at how much Hybrid divulged - I suppose at the end of the day they are splitting up, this new album is their last, they then plan to release a Hybrid Sample CD and then go their separate ways!

End of an era!

A fellow Hybrid fan, the new album is superb isn't it?

Where did you see those videos? I would be interested to see them.

Dave.

Using c4 here.....it seems a lot more stable and faster to use....really solid this time round.

The new plugs are ok, moveable inserts is good, the new chan eq very welcome...sounds good! They have laid things out a bit better to, its a lot more fluid to use and the new media bay is very welcome.

Will be great when the vst3 sdk is out and we see vst3 plugs available, and I really cannot wait to get a 64bit version on vista next year!!

To be honest I am not keen on the new album! I was quite dissapointed.

I need to give it more of a listen but it definately isn't upt to Wide Angle's standard.

Still a big fan though!

The movies were on one of the recent Future Music magazine (July edition I think )

They did 4 movies, all in Quicktime and about 20-30 mins each - Reaktor Tips and Tricks, How to write a Track, Favourite Gear, and the Making of I Choose Noise. I would recommend them to anyone, Hybrid fans or not...
