Yes, Kyma is one monster alright!!!!! I have been thinking of buying a system for over two years now but still not made up my mind. It made my head start to hurt just thinking of what could be done with it. If you have a strong love for Math and Synth design and Computer programing like hardcore code then it may be for you. I have seen a demo of the system and you can spend hrs, days, weeks ect. playing with it and end up with total crap or a masterpiece in sound design. The majority of Kyma users use the system for Movie SFX....but BT has created some awsome effects in his tracks with it so skys the limit! Maybe someday I will have to breakdown and pick up a system.

are you for real?
its like a new mac g5
around 4k for just the basic system without any dsp or memory upgrades.

i wonder how much should a second hand system cost

im sure you can build some very advence VAs using it
it can do much more then advence fx.

For real as in buying a Kyma System? Yes I have considered it. I know it's possibilities are endless but it is the price tag to get an upgraded machine. Even used setups sell for between 2500 and 3200 the cheaper being the old system without firewire and lower DSP also can not be upgraded much without buying the new Engine. Symbolic Sound is a good company always working on updates and such transferable warranties. The main reason the system costs so much is because of the Motorola DSP chips the basic system is 3500US a fully upgraded system cost 7500US Basically the system is designed for people with a lot of cash to blow or people that are making good $$$ by using one. I would probably want to start using my studio full time before I purchased one if that ever happens.

here in the US a most film scoring,SFX studios, and Video Game Audio Suites have a system. I have had a little hands on which kind of got me hooked but just not in my budget right now. I just ordered a TI and a Nord Modular G2 so I will be busy for a while.
