Default Virus vs Blofeld

Hi all. I have an opportunity to buy the waldorf blofeld for a good price. I already have a virus TI keyboard. Is there any point to buy it? What would the advantages be (other than extra polyphony)? Will it complement the virus or are they both pretty much the same thing? I'm thinking of putting it on the available real estate on the kb.

You can never own too many synths.

It would give you a comb filter, and some VA oscillators with greater high-end detail. The logic functions are pretty crazy too. I don't own a blofeld, but I used to own a Microwave XT and it was a pretty rad synth. Also has some pretty cool triggering options that aren't available on the virus (afaik), like the ability to trigger certain envelopes in legato mode while others trigger on every key press.

well the Blofeld DOES have more FM and Filter FM too. Less knobs on the unit though. I kinda had to decide between the two when I was purchasing, but because I used to own the Virus C, there was basically no learning curve for me at all for my current TI2 desktop. Blofeld can wait, especially when they haven't fully sorted out their sample wave situation.

and I may add: before owning 2 VA synths, you should own "every" kind of different synths available.
don't get me wrong, I've tried the Blofeld a lot, and its a great machine, but if you already have a TI, it won't add much to your "sound pool", imho
I think you'd better look elsewhere for your next buy

Blofelds are cheap as it is.
If you're getting one as a significantly cheaper price than even that, then you might as well go for it.

The Virus is dark-sounding, whereas the Blofeld is light and cutting, so they should compliment each other nicely. The Blofeld has a very nice screen and buttons but some people say it sounds a bit too abrasive.

It is different from the Virus. But, i've found it to be too raw and metallic for my liking. I am planning to sell it, I guess My V-synth and Virus, kinda cover a good spectrum. I've barely touched my Blofeld, wasn't too impressed with the sounds. Although I haven't tweaked it at all, so might give it another chance.
Although the Sample Memory release might change my opinion.
