Default [solved] Intermittent Key Trigger

Hello,

Just received my Kb off ebay a couple of days ago. First time user of any Virus (except for playing them at GC), and am loving this synth. I recently sold my Nord Lead 3 to get this baby, and couldn't be happier. But, much to my dismay, the lowest F on the keybed is a little fidgity.

The best way I can describe it is that it is intermittent and selective in whether it will trigger any sound. I found that it triggers some sounds easier than others, and some more consistently than others. It seems that on some sounds the key does not trigger the envelope portion of the sound, but this may be a legato issue, I am not sure. The key triggers fairly consistently if struck very hard, but, that makes any sort of natural playing virtually impossible. It also triggers on shallow key depressions, but of course, if there's any velocity mapping, the sound can be fainter/different than the other keys, etc.

Here's my question: have any of you encountered anything like this? I am reluctant to open up the board. It's in excellent condition otherwise, and I am having a blast with it, and don't want my overzealousness to destroy the fun I'm having with it. Thankfully the key is in a location that I don't reach often. I would open up the board if I can find someone who's done it who says it's fairly simple process to clean the key contacts (if that's the problem).

Any words of wisdom are greatly appreciated.

TIA,

aL

I should have mentioned that I emailed Access on Thursday, but haven't heard from them...

if I were you I'd look at the midi recorded from this key, it may just not be making contact, if some sounds are ok etc it really sounds like a amp setting is leading you in the wrong direction. but the midi note value should point you in the proper direction

Thanks Bishopkris40. Good point. I did trigger another module from the board and it does the same thing with the module. In other words, the module will sound or not sound depending on how the key is struck.

The problem was traced to a key contact that needed cleaning. I mustered up the courage and cleaned the key contact myself, and am very happy with the results. The key now works flawlessly.
