16 or 24 bit

Just a curiosity, What format do you guys record your audio?
I write tranz, especially with all those filt cutoffs.
G2 and virus are 24 bit, 96khs.

Is it ok to record on 16 bit ?
Am i losing audio quality? Sorry for my ignorance.
