Default Assigning Key Ranges on the KB

Hey everyone. I'd like to use my Virus KB to have certain keys be assigned different patches. I know this is possible, and know how to assign the keys and all of that.

My problem is that for certain Multis, I may have four different patches/parts being sequenced, but I only want two patches to be assigned keys. When I assign only two patches to have keys, the other parts then do not sound. Another issue is having separate parts written within the same octave range doesn't work, because the keys sound every patch they are assigned to when receiving notes.
My solution to this was to assign the patches to different octaves, transpose the patch, and rewrite the part to the new key range.

Does anyone else have much experience using the key split functions, while still sequencing tracks not assigned a key range? Is this possible?
