Default Master volume setting

hi!!

i'd like to know how do u all set your master volume?
in the manual they say set it to the max to get full dynamics, but when u set your LED display mode to output1, u notice that all the init patches clip!

so what is the best settings for this ?

I have it set to max, but I play with the patch volume settings.

By the way, I like your new Avtar! That must have been after a hard night! hehe

Every time you boost something, you'll automatically boost the distortion on that sound to...

There's actually no reason in setting your master to a lower value than max, and then boosting the separate channels. Always try to make as little boosting as possible.
Instead set master out to max, then lower some channels if they clip. Every time you raise or decrease the level you'll get some distortion and loss of signal to. The difference maybe isn't that great, but don't bost the separate channels if you can raise the master instead.

Dynamics...

yeah but the signal clips when coming out of the virus first, before reaching the mixer, so it's better to lower the volume patch on the virus, isn't it ?

Yes, but never lower the master, and then boost the separate parts, for sosme reason. That's just a waste.

As long as you mean lowering the parts with-in the Virus itself and not lowering the channels on your mixer, then this is fine.

If you just lower the channels on your mixer, then you will just get a quieter clipped signal.
