It?s like working with a virtual instrument including sample accuracy timing. You even can process individual virus parts with additional VST/AU plug-ins.
does it mean there's no more loop back to the computer for recording and that cables will only be used for realtime playback??

in other words, has the virus become a hardware VSTi ??

.... can't believe it......

Well, that's the whole idea in TI and that's what the hype is all about.

I think when the Virus is used via USB it doesn't acctally need an audio interface and no DA/AD transformings are not needed. Then you can rout the output from the sequencer to Virus input and set the mixdown go to one of the stereo outputs if the Virus. I'm not sure though can you also use the hardware inputs when you use the input via USB.

yeah but that way you need to record the mix back to the computer,
what i understood from the specs is that you can have virus channels running in the seq and as a VST and then export them to audio directly.
I don't see the point in routing the sequencer's outputs thru the virus, unless you need to process it with the internal fx.

I was wondering if the USB cable can be a long cable (4 metres). Otherwise, I need to place the Virus TI close to my PC.

Are there any restrictions in USB cable length? Im not too sure if there are.......I didnt think so though.

My un-educated guess is yes, your USB cable can be 4 metres long

I found this the other day, if you haven't already seen it.

TI integration flowchart

The external audio-ins of the Virus also look like they're routed into the Virus "soundcard", meaning you can connect another hardware product (or two, if mono) into the Virus and use the Virus' to inject it into the computer at high-res.

The flowchart shows 4 x internal virus audio channels, plus 2 x external audio-input channels, and midi controller data, can all be routed into the computer via the TI at any one time.

2 x audio outputs, and midi data, can be routed back out into the Virus TI.

Think we'll just need Access to confirm all this.

im really keen to find out just what sort of transfer rates you can get out of the usb connection - might have to get a 6in/out interface to utilise the analog outs (in order to get a nice bunch of seperated stereo tracks coming into your preferred audio editor)

No you don't have. I meant that if one would want to use the TI as a soundcard replacement. As the flow chart indicates the TI actually can be used as a soundcard replacement.
