Default Novation Supernova 2

I used to have one of these units years ago and I loved it - but that was when I had a virus B.

One has popped up quite local for sale and I'm considering it, but now I have the Virus Ti, Im unsure if I will love it as much as I used to.

so basically this post is ... should I buy the damn thing or add a few more quid and buy a Korg Radias ?

I just want a different sonic character to use instead of everything being all virusy.

ta

Hiya. Haven't ever had the chance to play any of Novation's synths, but the Radias is certainly very different to the Virus. Like chalk and cheese.

Sounds a lot more digital, 'polite', flatter, and brighter than the Virus. It's not really amazing for leads on its own, but for decent sounding background stuff it's great. The vocoder is also great. I don't feel the effects live up to Virus standard, though.

My subjective 2¢.

cheers , Ive only seen/heard the online demos of the Radias and no local stores have the thing in stock.

It sounds quite good , I like the vocoder recorder for pads idea.

Hmmm , sod it , ill get the novation now (assuming he still has it for sale) and save for the Korg in a month or 2.

The nord Wave and Nord Modular G2 are both nice additions.
I own Supernova 2, Nord Wave and Nord Modular G2X. I would perfer the modular G2 of all. the Price of a G2 isnt very different from Radias, atleast where I'm at.

When doing some work with a mate back home in Aus, we used a Nova and I loved the thing! I have though about buying one used over here in Japan, but they fetch too high a price.

yeah I bought another a few weeks back (see pic in s6000 thread).

Considering the virus ti and supernova are both VA synths using similar DSP chips (i think) - the actual sound overlap is quite small. Im glad I found another (in nearly new condition)

next is either a G2 rack or a 303 clone and thats it as far as buying synths go for a fair bit.
