Hopefully they'll put a few shite acts on at the same time as one good one so I won't have to worry about transmogrifying myself all over Bicentennial Park! 8O
Jase, tell your Prof. he's a greedy fekker and that he needs to share his samples with the good people of the UAV!

He sometimes puts together these "sound journeys", which is a montage of different recordings and soundscapes. He has passed on some samples to some electronica musicians, but he is a bit wary of doing that too much.
I think mainly, it is about archiving and preserving these slowly disappearing cultures and their music.

I was dreading you were gonna say that he's putting them over ambient beats.
If he's looking for sounds of very old cultures, I'm not gonna be around for ever you know...

Not forever, but yer not done yet, matey.
The festival was amazing.
I had no idea that it was the culmination of the annual Winter Music Conference in Miami.
The music played on the stages I went to was unbelievable.
You think electronic music is boring these days? Not if you heard what I did.
It's unreal. Very aggressive, very robust. No frequency of the soundscape is left out. The songs never got repetitive like the cheesy filler trance on so many CDs we've all heard.
This shit just kept kickin' ass and taking names.
Everyone in their right mind and otherwise was dancing their asses off and just living the moment.
The only boo-ing I heard was when one DJ skipped a record, then everyone freaked out until the groove hit again.
I am probably going to make this an annual thing.
Next year I will focus on buying music around that area as I'm sure there is a ton there worth having.
Also, XM radio broadcast from the UMF 8 live so if anyone has a recorded stream of that, for the love of god share it with me for I would give a king's ransom to hear it all again before next year.
The Alex went, the Alex heard, and now I am alive again with a new mission to keep the sonic dream alive.
Cheers mateys,
-Alex

Sorry to say Jase, but the Prodigy bored the hell out of me.
I am a big Prodigy fan, don't get me wrong, but when I hear the same old shit at a live show like UMF* as has been playing in my CD player for years I'm a bit disappointed.
Don't get me wrong, I still love'em; I just was not impressed with their live show this past weekend.
Same goes for Oakenfold. He's my fucking hero, but his live set was a bit on the slow side compared to what I heard from the unamed folks in the other sound stages.

I hada blast, HC, my brother.
Wounds? Well none physical.
Pics? No, cameras were not allowed except for cell phone cams and my cell is a freebie that has no such functionality.
Illegitimate kids? No way...I've had a vasectomoy...just kidding; HELL NO!
I've got a gorgeous wife and 2 beautiful children. I don't need illegitimate rompings.
Cheers!

Make sure you take an MD (or something) full of your own samples to put into the V GND! Only way to really test the sucker out.
Ahh, it's a pitty pics weren't allowed Alex. Oh well....
