Pros:
Sweeping wavetable, some special functions like patch morphing, sounds a bit more digital (in a good way and in a bad way), programmable arpeggiator (not sure about this one) and it looks better.

Addition: Did it also have audiofrequency LFO's and more flexible FM routing or am I talking complete rubbish?

Cons:
Internal effects are pain to use in multi. Only few FX buses with few effect in each, no individual FX per channel.

Default Q / virus

Yes juho is right, the q can basically do more than the virus overall, but I think that its harder to use, and the sound is not as alive and often not as full, i.e. you can't get those lovely lively squelchy arpeggios as nice on the q, however, the q excels at clear spacious ambient sounds and high pitch leads.

Q is sounding very "rough"
Heavy Leads and deep Basses but I hate the Pads (The Release sounds very... don?t know how to describe in english... "narrow" ?!?!)

Virus sounds very "expensive"
Awesome Pads - very clean Leads, not good for power-offbeat basses, but very good for basslines

Best is to have both, cause you may need both types of sound in a track

Manuel : Thanks for the info. Then what is really good for those power-offbeat basses? And affordable? Already bought quite a few synths(and quite a few soundbanks ) and I'm looking @ something very good at bass sounds.

I thought about the Waldorf Pulse, not sure yet tho!

I'm quite positive I'll deliver what you want. Head over to Waldorfs Soundcorner for bass samples. http://www.waldorf-music.com/soundco...p?cat_filter=5

Yeah, I've owned my Pulse for some years now and agree that it delivers the most solid bass. Some people dislike the sound of the oscillators. They are quite brash and digital, which I actually like. The analogue filter, though, takes the corners off and warms up the sound.

I absolutely love my Virus (C), its sound is, for want of a better phrase, very seductive. The filters, the phaser, the distortion/saturation etc. - well I presume that most people reading this will know how it sounds. My point being that the Virus can make some very useable, lovely rounded/distorted/warped bass sounds, however for really convincing 'built from the floor up' bass I still use my Pulse.

I use NI Reaktor, a Korg Prophecy & Korg Oasys soundcard, amongst other stuff, and like I say, for bass I almost always turn to the Pulse.

If I had to keep one piece of hardware (aside from my computer), though, I'ld keep the Virus, no contest.
