Default Users Vs Mods QUIZ NIGHT

Any ideas boys how we could arrange such a pitting of wits in real time?

I suppose we'd need an impartial 3rd party to put the questions. Who might ask the questions and officiate?

A conference call is necessary, old boy.

We could keep score in a thread on the forum or a web page specifically designed for that purpose.

Time zones would have to be considered.

An oath of loyalty would also be necessary to secure competition from filthy cheaters like Jasedee.

Shall I arrange the conference all?

What date and time.

Where there's a will, there's a way; and I'm willing to to bet that the OVM is going down in the UAVF Quiz Show.

<cracks knuckles>

Let's roll! It's time to rumble!!!

Honour? Although I highly doubt that there is any honour lying around the board, but I'm a naive git.

If we'll have a quiz "night", let it be on one weekend between saturday and sunday. Afterall due timezone issues some people have to participate on weird time, like at night or a middle of a day, which is problematic on workdays.

Where do we dig up the questions? Maybe everyone can send question(s) to a gamemaster, who then organises the whole crap?

I'd suggest we gather a set of questions in few different categories - maybe classical set of arts & culture, sports, history, geography, biology and useless information with a weight on arts & culture and useless information. Afterall this is a music oriented board with 99% of postings counted as useless information).

I certainly want be in the quiz, so no gamemaster's crown to me, thank you. I'm the master of completely useless information.

IRC is one option. A messenger service is other.

In IRC:

The gamemaster creates a quiz channel. The questions, points, correct answers, etc are announced there. The contestant's answers are sent to the GM directly via personal chat screen. This has few problems: From some locations IRC may have serious latencies and dropouts.

Well, of course you can google the answers, but if it's in real time then the winner is the first one with the right answer. I was thinking IRC, too.

I have an online conference facility - but only for up to 10 people at a time. I can have 10 people in a call, and 10 people viewing my PC screen (or anyones PC screen) at the same time.

Works great for my business presentations etc.

If this would help in any way, or if someone wants to see a demo... PM moi.

John. I think you would be the ideal quiz-master.

What say thee, horn-blowing mate? Can we call you Bamber just yet..?

WOW - I am honoured, oh crazy one

Hehe... I'd love to... I guess it just depends on how/when we run any contest.

What's the suggestion on format then?

Johno, buddy.

You don't mind if I call you that?

Buddy. You know who your friends are. Making myself clear? Mate. Pal.

I think we should just do the quiz on the board. You, my best ever mate, pal, lover of Mormon brass sections (which I fucking love - God. I love brass), should get 30 questions together and then post them real time on the board.

Formulate, do you not love that word? F O R M U L A T E good questions on Man City 1969-73 or anything else.

John. Newport boy. This is probably the greatest undertaking of your life.

Or at least since Xmas.
