Default Roland Alpha Juno 1

Hi folks.....

I was wondering if this synth is any good....Have played with it a couple of times for alot of years ago, but dont know if it can offer anything at all, when I got a Virus Indigo II?

I dont have that much retro gear, but when a nice price appear I am shure interested!

I can get it for around 75$, so PRETTY cheap I guess, especially compared to my Virus which got a retail price of 3200$ in my country! 8O

Will it just fill up space or is it a gem worth looking for?

What are the normal second hand price of it? Saw a place where they said 200-400$, but could be very old news.....

Guess that the owner is a little stupid, because he thought it was called CX juno!

be very wary with these old "bargains". Make sure you read the fine print, or if at all possible, try before you buy. There could be all sorts of things wrong with this synth......and you may not be able to get it fixed.

$75 sounds way too cheap.....like almost suspicious. But I am not too clued up about this particular synth.

Good luck with your decision

Jason

I have an Alpha Juno 2, which is exactly the same as an Alpha 1 except it has more keys and after-touch (although the Alpha will receive aftertouch, just the keyboard won't transmit).

They are really cheap here in Japan so you could be getting a bargin, but as Jase said, you should really look at it first. I can't remember now how much I paid for my Alpha2 - i think about 8000 o 9000 yen. I remeber it was about $100 ausi.

Editing on them is a prick, but you can buy the PG-300 programmer which gives you hands on control over every parametre. I use a software editor (Same editor for the 1 and 2) and it works great.

The sound of it is pretty good. The original hoover bass came from one of these things (that may not mean much to you though. hehe). I use mine for bass mainly, but I have used it for some leads too, by using the chord button - similar to old style rave leads.

Anyway, take a look at it 1st. At that price it's definitely worth a look.

OK, the problem is that it will be shipped to me from the otherside of the country, so I cant really take a look at it. He says that there were one key which didnt function but its fixed and it should be 100% OK now.....

I dont even know the law about this, so if he states its OK and it isnt, wouldnt that give some insurrance for me? dunno?

The reason that it is so cheap is maybe that he dosnt really know what its worth or could be worth.....maybe he is thinking that it is old shiiat and aint nothing worse today, dunno?

but OK I can afford loosing that kind of money if it really should be fucked and if its too hard to get my money back (have tried it before with twice the amount of money at least).......

Yeah, I?ve heard about the hoover sound comming from that Juno, wasnt the preset called "What the ..." or something?

I might take the chance and order....
