Get the virus C manual on the access website...
Quite a bit of info in there regarding the mod matrix! Basically the mod matrix is where you can modulate parameters by selecting a source and a destination. Example: You want to add some character to osc1 which is a square wave. You might wanna modulate the width of the wave(pwm) using an lfo so that its less static. You can sync it to the clock as well, etc.
