Another guitar lover here

Just ordered one of those light refracting lazer thingies for my studio. Cheers whoever posted about that. Should make a massive difference to the ambience of my setup. Will get some new pics once everything is rearranged.

I just got the maxxstation workstation from musicstore germany. Finally I can arrange my equipment like I want! The workstation is very big, 2m x 1m and heavy. It's made of beech plywood and it's lacquered. The only downside is that you can see the plywood structure at the edges but the finish is still very good. All corners and edges are smooth. The racks are very well designed and it's very easy to install your rack equipment. The workstation comes with all bolts and nuts for the racks.

Here are 2 pics which I just took. The main 2x10u racks are almost empty now but I will start filling them soon. The power amplifier is on the bottom of the right side rack. I guess nord rack 2x will be the first synth rack which will go to the left side.

At first it might look like the monitors were too high but they're not, at least for me. In fact the BM15's sound like ass if you put them in horizontal position. I tried that at first but the sound is just horrible, full of anomalies due to the position and reflections from the table. They must be installed in vertical position, like I have in the picture. Then the sound is perfect.

You basterd! you've stolen my dream setup!

btw,you should really get proper stands for your Dyna.
By sitting them on a desk the desk transfars alot of energy to the room making it resonate and degreding your monitoring enviroment.

In fact I had monitor stands but just sold them. This is just a temporary decision because I will move to a new place soon. I just noticed that I have a bigger problem with about 130Hz frequency now than with separate monitor stands. I will get some bass traps and other acoustic panels for my new apartment, and probably separate speaker stands too. Currently I must use a software eq to attenuate the 130Hz when using monitors. And like I mentioned, the bm15's don't work at all if I put them in horizontal position. The surface of the desk starts to affect the sound alot more and the bm15's don't work in that position altough you would use separate stands. Right now I get a usable sound if I suck the 130Hz away and I have 2 absorber panels on my walls which reduce reflections from the side walls above ~500Hz.

It really seems that some of the bass energy goes to the desk and it starts to resonate if I turn the volume up. Anyway, I am quite happy now and I will fix these problems as soon as I get to the new apartment.
